Blackwood House
Blackwood House is a great example of building a lightweight home on a very steep slope without gouging the earth or harming even the tiniest species of native vegetation.
The clients requested an interesting, exciting house on their Adelaide Hills site, to be conserved and celebrated through living in a building that related to the land rather than shaping it to suit.
With a modest budget, the project achieved:
- Conservation of all existing trees
- Strong relationship with the natural landscape
- An inexpensive, sensitive solution for provision of passive solar design through linked pavilions, glazed stairway linkage, acoustic separation and indoor/outdoor connection in all spaces
